Every great voyage needs a dedicated crew, and the South Florida Regional wouldn’t get very far without the incredible volunteers who return year after year to keep us afloat. Like seasoned sailors navigating the high seas, our volunteers steer this competition with skill, passion, and unwavering dedication. Whether manning the deck, charting the course, or keeping the engines running, each of our volunteers plays a vital role in making this event a success. So, as we set sail for another thrilling competition, we tip our captain’s hat to the heart and soul of our regional—our volunteers!

Meet the Crew!
It takes a mighty crew of over 130 dedicated volunteers to hoist the sails and keep the South Florida Regional running smoothly. From the early risers setting up the field to the tireless judges, referees, inspectors, and queuers, every single person plays a vital role in making this event a success. Without them, we’d be adrift! To show our deepest gratitude, we invite teams and mentors to get creative and craft a REEFSCAPE table centerpiece for the Volunteer Lounge—a small token of appreciation for those who give so much.
And when we recognize our Volunteer of the Year 2025 during Closing Ceremonies on Friday, let’s make some waves—clap, cheer, and celebrate as loud as you can!
After all, a ship is only as strong as its crew, and we’re lucky to have the very best.

🚀 Be a Student Ambassador!🚀
Hey, future leaders and STEM superstars! Are you passionate about robotics and love sharing your FIRST experience with others? As a Student Ambassador, you’ll be the face of FIRST, guiding guests, VIPs, and event attendees through the exciting world of competitive robotics. From explaining the latest game challenge to showing off the coolest bots in the Pit, you’ll inspire others to join the movement and see just how life-changing FIRST can be!
What You’ll Do
✅ Lead fun and engaging tours of the Pit (because robots are awesome!)
✅ Welcome and interact with VIPs, sponsors, and special guests. Maybe even be invited to the VIP Event!
✅ Chat with teams and students to learn about their projects and share their stories
✅ Check in at the Information & Welcome Table 15 minutes before your shift starts
Who Can Apply?
🔹 Current students on a FIRST team (FRC, FTC, or FLL)
🔹 Outgoing, friendly, and great at talking about all things FIRST!
🔹 Familiar with robot design, build season challenges, fundraising, and sponsorship
🔹 Know the current year’s game inside and out (scoring, objectives, and build restrictions)
🔹 Strong communication skills and the ability to move around the event space

🎶 National Anthem Performers Wanted! 🎶
Do you sing or play an instrument? We’re looking for talented students and mentors to perform the U.S. National Anthem at the start of our competition days. Whether you’re a solo act or a group, we’d love to have you!
Color Guard Needed! 🚩
We’re also searching for two Color Guard teams—one for each day—to help us open the event with the respect and tradition it deserves.
🌍 International Teams, Let’s Celebrate Your Anthem Too!
If your team would like to perform your national anthem—whether by singing or simply standing proudly on the field—please reach out to Sandra Contreras. Some countries, like Turkiye, may need to coordinate with other teams due to space constraints, so let’s plan together to make it happen!
