Each year, we host the South Florida Regional for local, state, out of state and international high school robotics teams participating in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), where every team gets a chance to earn a spot to compete at FIRST world championships. Our event recruits over 130 volunteers to help us offer this event in the area, and serves over 40 teams that attend the event.

This year the name of the game is REEFSCAPE presented by Haas, where teams will use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.  The competition will take place April 2-5th, 2025 at the University of Miami Watsco Center and we need all hands on deck!.

FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.

This real-world engineering education is made possible by local mentors, coaches and various grants from corporations, foundations and the team’s local community. The highlight of the FIRST robotics season culminates with regional competitions and international finals.

The South Florida Regional is one of this events where teams compete to earn a coveted spot to attend the FIRST World Championship!
